I have a soft spot for nautical scenes, water, beaches, and cultural connections. As an interior designer by trade I love color and textures. I enjoy the form and function of architectural elements in design and how lighting can change everything. Creating the desired ambiance and positive experience in a space has been a passion my whole life. So, with a deep appreciation of art and design, it was a natural progression to try painting. Choosing to work with oil paint allows me the opportunity to edit, adjust and play with color and textures to try to capture a moment. I enjoy the process to achieve a feeling, capture a mood or a moment in time to invite the viewers eye to stop and linger. My art reflects the northwest and objects of my affection.
I am a quarter Tsimshian Native, a northwest coastal tribe from Alaska. I enjoy learning about and sharing my heritage, its rich culture and traditions. Gisbutwada Diptegu or Killer Whale is my clan. Ama di Yaan is my Tsimshian name… which means “Shows a Good Way”.
