My hands cannot keep still. They have a constant need to keep moving, and express the ceaseless creative ideas within. The attraction to multiple media over my lifetime has led me to my current work. They may be combined, such as using linocuts on ceramics, and textured papers in my Egg Tempera paintings, for example. My happiest moments in life are when I am actively engaged in pursuing the universal creative muse in my studio. I am inspired by nature, birds in particular, as well as, the combination of pattern, texture, color, and form. My concerns for the environment and its vulnerability enter into the content of the work. An image of an orca, a Western Pond Turtle, a sea star, Hawaiian finches, are all symbolic of the loss of habitat, and vulnerability that these creatures experience, along with us. My work honors them as fellow beings on our shared planet.
